The Skirt On Dress Fashion Trend Taking The World By Storm

We got nominated for Best Blog in the Jumia Kenya Fashion Awards 2015. I feel amazing. I see myself as just a little star and all I ever wanted to do was to express myself and to have a voice that speaks out to people around the world. It is very hard being a blogger in Kenya and there are times when I feel like giving up but every time I meet someone who reads my post or when I read your positive feedback, It reminds me of the reason I decided to write and I push on. I am getting better at my craft and I am grateful for all of my readers for your support and your feedback. It means so much to me to have people recognize and appreciate my work. I am happy to have readers who read my blog as often as you do. To vote for FASHION FORENSIC AFRICA for best blog send the code (KGA 057) to 0724 747 777.

This week’s look was inspired by the skirt on dress craze going on around the world. People are wearing dresses on trousers and skirts on dresses. I have always wanted to dare myself to try trends that are out of the ordinary and this is my first piece. The dress and skirt I wore for this look are vintage.  I bought the dress in a vintage store in town for 500 Ksh (5 dollars) and the skirt at 200Ksh(2 dollars) years ago.

The skirt on Dress look

The dress I decided to wear is a chiffon, button down, high low turquoise dress shirt. It’s a good choice for the dress in shirt look because its light and it will not be too heavy to pair up with something else. The trick to achieving this look is to wear a skirt that is a few inches shorter than the dress. The skirt is beige and I totally love the military detail on it. A few years back, this trend was very popular and I decided to revive it on this post.

Detailing on the skirt and bag

To balance the look, I went with a blue, snake skin belt to add some color to the look and to break the outfit. I totally love the gold ring. It matched perfectly with the gold buttons and the detail on the bag. I bought the bag last year from Toi Market, one of the biggest vintage markets in Nairobi, at 300Ksh. I think for the quality and style, this was a very good buy.

Snake skin gladiators

From my shoedrobe, (what I call my shoe collection) I brought out the snake print gladiator heels. If you do not know by now, I am a sucker for shoes and animal print. I have countless animal print shoes. I will have a shoe post soon. I would also like to see your shoes as well. Tag me on your gorgeous shoe posts on Instagram: @reina_frashionforensicafrica

That cheeky Smile

The finishing touches on my look was my favorite multi colored neck piece from Mr Price, my brown hair clip and my cheeky smile, as usual. 🙂

Have an amazing week ahead.
