Hi fashionistas. I hope you’ve been well. I have been super busy from the last time I wrote, I got invited to the Liz Ogumbo #musicmeetsfashion event at DUSIT 2, Nairobi. I have to say, this was one of the best events I have ever been to. Everything was well-organized and meticulously planned. The food and wine by Gato Negro was in abundance and the guests were open to conversation and networking. Being a fashion event, the highlight of the night, was the amazing outfits from Liz Ogumbo’s fashion line. The designs were a mix of African print-retro-sass and a touch of the Las-Vegas-funk. I enjoyed her performance as well. Her genre is KEN-SOUL and it kept me entertained. This only shows that there are talented Kenyan born musicians and performers. Listen to one of her classics BIG NYASH.
She inspired my post today.I have been on YouTube, Instagram and Twitter going through profiles trying to find amazing soulful singers. I have found a few and I have to say, there is a lot of good music being produced in Kenya. This is a mini series of Reina Investigates. Lol! 🙂 This week’s outfit post is all about bringing out the music in you. I will take you through my outfit, as I introduce you to the amazing musicians I found online.
Wendy Kimani is an amazing artist with a voice of an angel. She has had many successful hits like, Rumour , Haiwi Haiwi with Bienamie (Sauti Sol) and her resent hit with GILAD, and my favorite Kenyan song this year, UNAJUA .
The one and only. Atemi is a music power house and has been an inspiration for years. She always looks amazing in her videos and her music is authentic and deeply rooted. She sings in Swahili and does it so well. Watch her new song Bebi Bebi and her song with Tanzania’s Lady Jay Moyo.
I discovered Lulu Kibaara on Twitter and I couldn’t stop listening to her new hit single, TALIA a response to Sauti Sol’s NEREA.
Miss Tee is a make up Artist and singer. She is not only talented but gorgeous as well. She has recorded a cover of one of the hardest songs ever sang, Whitney Houston’s, I have nothing. Listen to it here. I also like her single called Shining Star.
Do you agree with my list? Is there someone I have left out? Let me know in the comment section below.
On this post I wore a classic polka dot jumpsuit paired with floral heels. This is a very subtle look yet classy at the same time. I wore a green leather choker just to throw in some color to the look. For the accessories, I wore gold loops, a pearl bracelet and colored sunglasses.
