1. Tell us a little about yourself?

Well,  My name is Bevern Oguk, the first born in my humble family.  I am the Creative Director at CO-BE Inc,  a fashion brand I co-founded with
my partner  and fellow designer, Collins Karanja.

My role is to oversee the direction we want our brand to take, come up with our collection themes, design, collaborate with associate tailors, and many more small roles. I am largely into arts, positivism and  inspiring others.

  1. What does fashion mean to you?

Fashion to me is an avenue  I use to express my artworks and creativity. The glitz and glamour that comes with the fashion industry comes last.

  1. When did you realize that you wanted to be a fashion designer?

I realized that I wanted to major into fashion after high school. I took my drawings and paintings to art galleries, but I felt limited because  I wanted to use more than just a pencil, colors and canvas to express myself. Fashion allows me to use different materials, from fabric, beads,
leather, thread to  dye. However, I plan to continue creating artwork, specifically using a the collage technique sometime in future.

  1. What should women throw out of their closets? Why do you hate this trend?

Women should throw away the black and white tights, and plastic doll shoes. They make all ladies look the same.

  1. What are some of your favorite fashion magazines, websites or books?

My favorite fashion magazine is definitely Couture Africa Magazine. I also like and ‘‘ website.

  1. What advice do you have for aspiring designers, photographers and bloggers?

My advice for designers is to be original, do it because you love it, not because it is ‘cool’. Before I  started my own line, I worked under an already established brand as an intern to learn the business before starting. Photographers and bloggers,  I would tell them to believe in themselves, have very thick skin because the industry is very competitive. Most importantly, designers, photographers and bloggers should work together as they need each other. They should also be themselves ,not try too hard to look like the international counterparts.

  1. May I simply just say what a comfort to discover a person that truly knows what they are discussing
on the web. You certainly understand how to bring
an issue to light and make it important. More people
need to check this out and understand this side of the story.

  2. Admiring the time and effort you put into your website and detailed information you present.
It’s awesome to come across a blog every once in a while that isn’t the same
out of date rehashed material. Wonderful read!

I’ve saved your site and I’m adding your RSS feeds to my Google account.
