9 PAIRS OF SHOES EVERY MAN SHOULD OWN

Most men only have two types of shoes : Official and Casual shoes (sneakers). There is more to shoes than those two words. You need to learn the names of the shoes you wear and try and add a diverse range of styles to your collection. Gone are the days when men were supposed to be boring and very plain in their look. Now, men are trendy and are not scared of standing out. These are the shoes I recommend.

1.  BLACK OXFORDS

Oxfords first appeared in Scotland and Ireland.They are v-shaped and have laces attached on the slit.They have so much character and convey British charm ,elegance and tradition.

Good Oxfords have a round toe and are comfortable .They should be worn with chinos,khaki ,jeans and suits.When wearing them,make sure that the trousers  reach just at the top of the shoe to avoid hiding the detail of the shoe.

2. DERBY SHOES

Derby shoes are characterized by their shoe lace eyelet tabs that are sewn on top of the slit.

They are comfortable shoes and more casual compared to the Oxfords. Derbys can be found in different colors ,shapes and sizes and can be put on with casual khakis and chinos.

3. MONK STRAPS

double-monksworn-for-menI know some of you have never heard of the Monk strap shoe.It is a shoe with no lacing and has a buckle and strap.the number of straps varies from a single to double or even triple straps.

It is very popular in suede and is worn with or without socks.

It is a formal shoe but less formal compared to the oxford shoe and more formal compared to the Derby shoe.It can be dressed up or down,with a suit or with denim.

4. BOOTS

Boots are shoes that cover the entire foot and the popular ones worn by men  go up to the ankle.They have a heel that stands out from the heel.

Boots have been in the market for a long time and come in a variety of styles and shapes.From the jungle boots ,combat boots to the Chelsea boot(in the picture above) ,which is the made of leather and is popular with men.

They can be worn with both official and casual trousers.

5. TUXEDO SHOES

They are formal wear.Tuxedo shoes  are a combination of the oxford style and a classic tone of black leather. They are worn on black tie occasions and complement suits perfectly.

6. BOAT SHOES

Boat shoes were originally designed for sailors to  use on a boat hence the name.They have a pattern cut into the sole s to provide grip on a wet deck.

They are simple and very comfortable.However these  shoes are put on without socks.They are casual.They  can be put on with shorts,chinos and jeans.

494411447_959They are slip-on shoes and are lace-less shoes. Most of them have either tassels at the front or metallic decorations. They are casual shoes and go well with chinos,shorts,jeans.They also come in different colors and styles.

8.SNEAKERS

They can either be boots,loafers or brogues. Most men shy away from these shoes because they come in bright colors and the  patterns are busy.The good thing about them is that they are made locally so you have a choice in  terms of color and material. They can be worn casual shoes with shorts ,jeans and chinos.
